Stephanie Quinby

E-RYT 200 Instructor

Stephanie completed her Hatha Yoga Instructor Training through Glenmore Yoga & Wellness Center. She also maintains a Level II Certified Yoga Fitness Instructor certification through American Fitness Professionals and Associates. Stephanie teaches yoga with a meditative and strong flowing style. She initially attended a yoga class to share time with her mother at the gym, but after the very first class felt a deep, inner connection with the practice. She emphasizes the vital connection between the awareness of the breath and the asana practice, creating a mindful balance between exploring one's strength and finding inner balance and harmony.

The philosophy of Yin Yoga is in the Taoist Yoga tradition, in contrast to most Hatha Yoga traditionally practiced in the U.S. Each class may focus thematically on poses and brief readings that correspond to the season/nature as well as to a focal point within our bodies and our selves. This approach acknowledges the pathways of energy in the body by focusing on connective tissue and its relationship to the meridians of the traditional Chinese medicine system. Without using muscle strength, the postures stimulate these areas, and encourage deep, gentle unfolding of the hips, groin and lower spine. Most postures are performed on the floor and held longer than usual, often up to five minutes. In this way, connections are made while space is created, within our bodies, minds, and our relationship to the earth and the world around us.
