Acupuncture is a licensed therapeutic treatment for a variety of health needs. Treatment begins with an initial detailed health interview including medical history, diet, lifestyle, physical and emotional well being. There is also a brief physical examination before a diagnosis and appropriate treatment is determined.

The acupuncture treatment itself involves a specific combination of points in which sterile, disposable needles are gently inserted and left in place for 15 to 40 minutes. The sensation they produce in the body varies widely. Most people report it to be extremely relaxing, and many fall asleep during treatment.

An herbal formula may be prescribed in order to continue the therapeutic effects outside the treatment room. Herbal medicine can be in the form of pills, tinctures, powders, raw herbs, or topical treatments. Regardless of form, all such prescriptions comply with strict FDA standards. Most herbs can be used safely with other medications and do not cause any unpleasant or detrimental side effects.

Acupuncture and other modalities are covered by some insurance programs. You can submit your receipt to your insurance company to inquire about reimbursement.
